A strategy for selecting safe and low maintenance floorings in early childhood centers outdoors

(in lingua inglese)

ECC in Egypt can be classified according to their type of allocation into: Allocated ECC (ECC built with pre-intention), and Unallocated ECC (allocated in an unintended manner, e.g. a floor in a residential building). ECCs in Egypt almost lack standardization concerning providing adequate outdoor spaces, and choosing the right type of outdoor features, including floorings. The choice of outdoor floorings in ECC in Egypt is mainly affected by the point of view of the owner, and his subjective view of providing safety for kids. The most commonly used flooring type in the discussed case studies was tartan flooring fixed over a solid ground with a minimum thickness of 0.5 cm.
